Once upon a time I used to think that helping students who are blind/visually impaired to get access to good, high quality educational experiences meant helping make classrooms and the activities that happened there accessible to those students. Second Life is a great place to learn, but I'm becoming more convinced that it's not a good place to teach.



The teaching perspective implies a course, and the course implies that the students will be required to attend and do something. But the barriers to entry in terms of technology and disability are such that I don't think the environment is ready for prime time.
